Summer Camp 2020 ( Cancelled )

Due to the current situation of wide-spread COVID-19 pandemic, 2020 GCI Summer Camp has been cancelled.

Every year Groningen Confucius Institute (GCI) organises a Summer Camp, which is financially sponsored by Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) in cooperation with Communication University of China (CUC, Beijing).

The GCI summer camp is a great opportunity for our students to visit China and further learn Chinese and experience Chinese culture. We cordially invite our non-Chinese students, aged 15 to 30, who have studied Chinese at GCI for a minimum of 40 hours and are first time participants to join our 2020 GCI summer camp, during which you will take part in Chinese language training and cultural tours, and exchange ideas with teachers and students from China.

The costs of your study and stay in China, including travels within China and accommodation will be covered by CUC and Hanban, while other fees and charges such as your round-trip airfare to and from China, travel insurance and visa application fee will be at your own expense. A deposit of €150 is required at the time of registration, but it will be refunded after the trip. There is no refund for cancellation requests submitted after the registration deadline. The full deposit amount is in that case forfeited.

Summer camp will take place from Saturday 11 to Saturday 25 July 2020. There are only 20 spots available and registration will close as soon as this number is reached.

Please note:

1. We reserve the right to cancel the GCI Summer Camp if there are not enough participants.
2. We are keeping a close eye on developments regarding the coronavirus and are following updates on the (travel) advice and possible measures to take from the Netherlands National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). The Groningen Confucius Institute reserves the right to cancel the summer camp in the event of circumstances arising beyond its reasonable control.
