Onderwijs
Since the opening in May 2011, Groningen Confucius Institute (GCI) has been striving to support the development of the Chinese language and culture education in the Netherlands. GCI has launched various innovative Chinese language programs at the University of Groningen and the Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen, and offered a wide range of Chinese language courses for local residents and students in Groningen and Amsterdam. Furthermore, GCI cooperated with outstanding Dutch secondary schools and established 11 Confucius classrooms throughout the country. To increase the accessibility and awareness of the Chinese proficiency tests, we also organized HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) and HSKK (Chinese Proficiency Oral Test) for local Chinese learners.
With the growing recognition nationwide, GCI has been a major institution of Chinese teaching and learning. Besides these well-received projects, GCI is continuously exploring new ways of cooperation with Dutch universities, secondary schools and other educational institutions. For instance, GCI is developing a teaching point project with the aim to support the development of the Chinese language and culture programs at more Dutch secondary schools.
Being a part of the global network of the Confucius Institutes, GCI would like to leverage the strong support from the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) by offering opportunities for Chinese learners to achieve a further education and have a taste of the language and culture in China. GCI organize summer camps and Principal’s Trip to China regularly and helps eligible students to apply for the Confucius Institute Scholarship.
