GCI Chinese New Year Celebration in Amsterdam

On 20th February, Groningen Confucius Institute Amsterdam held Chinese New Year Celebration at VondelCS in Amsterdam, where up to 100 distinguished guests from educational, political and cultural fields were present.

The celebration was hosted by GCI Director Mrs. Xuefei Knoester-Cao, who extended a warm welcome and New Year greetings to all participants. Mrs. Jingyi Liu, Chinese Director of GCI, delivered a keynote speech, during which she reviewed what GCI has achieved in Chinese language education, cultural promotion and business cooperation over the past year and expressed her sincere gratitude to all of the guests.

It was then followed by the signing ceremony of strategic cooperation between GCI and China Cultural Center in Den Haag, which aims at promoting Chinese education and Chinese culture together in the Netherlands. In the coming new year, GCI and China Cultural Center will jointly organize Chinese Bridge Competition, Chinese Calligraphy Paintingting Exhibition and Chinese Poetry Conference, etc.

Mrs. Bei Sun, the director of China Cultural Center in Den Haag, sent her cordial congratulations on the remarkable achievements of GCI and meanwhile envisioned the friendly cooperation between China Cultural Center and GCI.

The celebration went on with a series of wonderful cultural performances such as Chinese instrumental solos and Chinese singing given by Jiangsu Art Troupe and GCI teacher Wei Jiang, which aroused attendees’ considerable interest in Chinese culture. With the one-hour reception after the performances, all the guests enjoyed a great networking time.
