GCI Held the Second Putonghua (Mandarin) Proficiency Training and Testing Programme
On 19 and 20 December 2017, Groningen Confucius Institute (GCI) held the second Putonghua (Mandarin) Proficiency Training and Testing Programme in the Hague. Mrs. Jingyi Liu, the Chinese director of GCI, gave a welcome speech to all the participants, after which Mr. Ribiao Chen, the Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Kingdom of Netherlands, delivered the opening speech and recognized the contribution GCI has made to the Chinese education and Sino-Dutch cultural exchange.

Prof. Wang Hui from Institute of Applied Linguistics Ministry of Education of China, Prof. Yu Mei and Prof. Ding Longjiang from the School of Presentation Art of Communication University of China (CUC), together with Prof. Li Fenghui from the Radio and Television Institute of CUC, were invited to deliver four lectures on the content, procedures of and preparation for Putonghua Proficiency Test, the oral reading skills of Mandarin, the speech communication techniques of Mandarin, as well as analysis of and solutions to common phonation problems, during which experts also gave the participants live guidance on the relevant aspects, such as how to give an impromptu speech, and how to adjust the breathing pattern when speaking.

The training was specially designed for the Putonghua Proficiency Test organized the following day, when many trainees participated in the test with more confidence.

Groningen Confucius Institute Training and Testing Center, also as the first overseas mandarin (Putonghua) training and testing center was established in December 2016, regularly holding keynote speeches and seminars closely related to teacher training, with the purpose of molding itself into a platform for promoting Chinese learning and teaching.
