GCI New Year Celebration in Business School, University of Amsterdam
Welcoming the Chinese New Year of the Rooster, on Jan 25 GCI New Year celebration kicked off in Amsterdam. It was co-organized by Groningen Confucius Institute (GCI), Amsterdam Business School-University of Amsterdam (ABS-UvA) and Association of Chinese Students & Scholars in the Netherlands-Amsterdam Branch (ACSSNL-Amsterdam). More than 200 students and teachers joined this festive occasion. The celebration boasted an assortment of amazing traditional performances with Chinese characteristics.
Mrs. Jingyi Liu delivered a keynote speech in the beginning of the celebration. She talked about the custom of Chinese New Year celebration in China. Then she shared the story of GCI about how we have been dedicating ourselves to such courses as promoting cultural understanding, creating business cooperation opportunities. She wrapped her speech by sending out sincere New Year regards to all the guests.

A variety of cultural performances, good showcases of mesmerizing Chinese culture, made the festive atmosphere more delightful. GCI teachers and students performed traditional tea ceremony, Hulusi, dancing and singing, which earned rounds of applause from the audience.

This celebration went on with different cultural workshops provided by GCI, including Chinese calligraphy, Chinese traditional painting, Chinese knot, and Chinese paper cut. These workshops were packed with crowed rings, with students’ active and passionate participation. Strokes of brushes, ink spreading on the paper and craftsman work gave participants memorable experience of rich Chinese culture.
