World Language Programme in University College Groningen

Groningen Confucius Institute has collaborated with University College Groningen to launch the World Language Programme. This programme allows interested UCG students to take Chinese language as an elective course during 3 years as part of their Liberal Arts and Sciences Bachelor programme. Interested students may broaden their language programme with additional academic assignments for extra credits.

Course Content

The course focuses on students’ communicative language proficiency in Chinese, in which all skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking), including grammar and vocabulary, are integrated. Following the levels and can-do-statements of the HSK(Chinese Language Proficiency Test). During lectures, all topics will be discussed through written and oral texts, video or audio fragments, role-plays. Supported by online resources, students work individually, in pairs or small groups. By the weekly cultural comparison, students are able to understand Chinese culture and society.
