About the topic:
In this webinar, Mr. Matthias will shed light on the “Going Global” process of China’s publishing industry, as it is now underway for almost 15 years. Through some examples, an overview of the past & current status of China’s (academic) Publishing Industry, and its present level of internationalization will be sketched. By using also a few market – entry strategies of Western Presses, a broader picture of almost unlimited business opportunities on the Chinese market for any publishing house, either Chinese or of foreign origin, will be drawn.
About the presenter:
Dr. Matthias Wahls 吴乐思, is founder and managing director of his Intercultural Publishing Consultancy 乐思跨文化出版咨询, with special focus on international activities of Chinese Publishers and Publishing Group’s. He has worked at Elsevier Science (Amsterdam), Brill Academic Publishers (Leiden) and Bridge21 publishers (US). In China, M Wahls is well connected to many of the top tier publishing houses and publishing groups, like Science Press and Higher Education Press. M. Wahls does hold a PhD in Physical Chemistry in Leiden University and a MSc. in Chemistry in TU Clausthal, Germany. While being a born German, M Wahls lives in the Netherlands since 1993.
